PlantComMistra

PlantComMistra aims to enhance the capacity of plants to resist attack by aphid pests, by exploiting chemical signaling between the plants themselves, between plants and aphids, and between plants and aphid natural enemies.
PlantComMistra is a Mistra-financed research program that will develop new, more sustainable solutions to aphid control in cereals, primarily barley.

The program consists of three subprograms:

1. New cropping strategies
2. New genotypes
3. Enhanced effectiveness of aphid natural enemies

The cross-disciplinary approach combining insect ecology and plant physiology, and spanning both basic and applied research, is unique in both a national and an international context.

Who are we?
The research program is a collaboration between four institutions: SLU Alnarp, SLU Umeå, SLU Uppsala, and Stockholm University. The program board has responsibility for overseeing the program, and consists of representatives from the private, public and academic sectors.
